About Our Partnership
The Convergence is an annual gathering of theological and healthcare communities hosted by The Christian Medical & Dental Associations and The Hendricks Center at Dallas Theological Seminary. Each year, we identify a “Critical Conversation” where medical realities and biblical truths interconnect. Some previous conversations have included the right of conscience and questions concerning gender and identity. We also host webinars and would love you to join us at our next one!
Speakers
Timothy Allen, MD
Dr. Timothy Allen is board-certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and Completed a fellowship in Primary Care Psychiatry. He and his wife (Nikki Allen, MD) own an independent medical practice in Cudahy, Wisconsin, that focuses on the underserved. They have four children and three grandchildren. In 2020, they planted a church in Cudahy, where Timothy serves as senior pastor.
Ted George, MD
Dr. Ted George is happily married and living in Potomac, Maryland. He has three married children and eight grandchildren. Ted graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois and did an Internal medicine Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Duke University. While at Duke, he was inspired by the late Dr. Bill Wison to embark on a career aimed at integrating Christianity and Medicine. He is a senior staff scientist at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, where he is involved in the clinical care of alcohol use disorder patients and research studies. He is a member of National Presbyterian Church in Washinton, D.C.
Michelle Knapp, MD
Dr. Michelle Knapp is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and a Fellow of the International Nurses Society on Addictions. She lives with her husband in Venice, Florida where she is active in her church ministry, which cares for homebound members. She has spent most of her career in clinical and academic positions in NYC and San Francisco. Her research has been integrating addiction education across nursing and other professional curricula. She continues her scholarly work through journal and textbook publications and mentoring Christian psychiatric NP students, providing Christian-focused psychiatric clinical opportunities in Florida.
