The Danger of Burnout (Critical Conversations Plenary Session 3)
Burnout and Resilience in Healthcare | Personal and professional burnout is endemic in the medical profession. Half or more practicing physicians in the US admit to emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of fulfillment in their work. Recovery and resilience depend upon both personal and organizational commitment and involvement. Physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual elements are essential to be addressed in combating burnout and achieving wholeness.
Pursuing Wholeness in A Stressed-Out World | In pursuing greater wholeness, we will survey the contemporary stressed out cultural landscape, highlighting some contributing factors challenging well-being. In charting a better path forward, we will look to some insights from interpersonal neurobiology as well as timeless faith-based wisdom. This will include work and sabbath rhythms, seasons of life and the importance of secure attachments experienced in relational community. Lifestyle limits, patterns and pace will also be explored along with some practical lifestyle considerations aimed at comprehensive wellbeing.
